Artist Bio
Scott Sandell (born 1953) is an American artist based in Sag Harbor, New York, known for luminous mixed‑media collages and prints that layer translucent handmade papers, inks, and natural imagery to evoke memory, motion, and abstraction. He earned his BFA from the University of Minnesota, where he studied printmaking under master printer Zigmunds Priede, an influence that continues to shape his process‑driven practice.
Sandell’s work reflects a long engagement with materials, layering, and atmospheric space, informed by decades of studio practice and a background in sailmaking and design. His art has been widely exhibited and is held in major public, academic, and corporate collections in the United States and abroad.
