Artist Bio
Italo George Botti (1923–2003), who also worked under the name George Barrel, was an American painter known for vibrant impressionist landscapes, beach scenes, and figures distinguished by bold impasto and palette‑knife technique. Born in Greenwich Village, New York, he trained at the Brooklyn Academy of Fine Arts, the National Academy of Design, and the Art Students League of New York. Through Botti Studio of Architectural Arts, he maintained a prolific, multidisciplinary practice, dividing his time between Illinois and Florida. His work is collected for its radiant color, energetic surface, and celebratory view of everyday life.
